Regulator Approves
Hike In Gasoline Prices And Taxi Fares
The Autoridad Reguladora de los Servicios
Públicos (Aresep) today approved a hike in
the price of gasoline and taxi fares.
Gasoline prices will go up ¢34 colones for a
litre of regular and diesel, and ¢33 for
super.
Support For Extension
Of New Ley De Tránsito Growing
With only fifteen days to go,
legislators are moving closer to the
postponement of the new Ley de Tránsito that
is to take effect on Wednesday 23 September.
If approved, the law would go into effect on
March 1, 2010.
Electricity Rate Reduction Decision On
Wednesday
The Tribunal Contencioso Administrativo said
it would
handdown the decision on the electricity
rate decrease of 7.2% on Wednesday.
ICE To Unify GSM Cellular Networks On
Saturday
Saturday the Instituto Costarricense de
Electricidad (ICE) will unify the two GSM
cellular networks into one and is asking all
customers of the GSM service to turn off
their phones on Saturday night and then turn
them back on Sunday.
Stolen
Cellular Phones Will Be Blocked
One of the benefits of the changeover to the
Ericsson cellular network is the ability of
ICE to block stolen or lost telephones with
a simple call to 193 or a visit to any ICE
agency.

The Heredia - San José commuter train has
reduced traffic congestion between the
cuidad de las flores and the downtown San
José by 25%, according to the latest
