113 Arrested During "Quema de
Judas"
The "Quema de Judas" on Saturday resulted in
the arrest of 113, according to the Fuerza
Pública, who says that the majority of the
disturbances occurred in Barva, San Joaquín
de Flores and San Rafael in Heredia.
Daniel Calderón, the police chief in
Heredia, said it is not clear anymore if the
Quema de Judas is a religious tradition or a
new tradition of hooligans out to vandalize.
"Young people misinterpret the Catholic
celebration to commit unlawful acts. The
disorder was not as in previous years,
fortunately we had everything under
control", he said Calderón.
