Tuesday Afternoon Downpour
Caught Most By Surprise
Many were caught by surprise when the skies
went dark Tuesday afternoon and soon were in
the middle of a downpour and without an
umbrella. Is the rainy season here? many for
sure asked themselves.
Although the rainy season won't be in the
Central Valley for another month, the
transition period could bring us more
afternoons like yesterday.
The national weather services - the
Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) -
says that short downpours could be common
during the coming weeks and though they may
be intense, they too short in duration to
concern about flooding and mudslides.
The South Pacific (Paso Canoas, Puerto
Jiménez, San Vito) is already in entering
the rainy or winter season. The Central
Pacific (Quepos/Manuel Antoion/Jacó) will
enter the rainy season in the coming weeks,
followed by the Cental Valley (San José and
surrounding areas), then the Pacific North
or Guanacaste.
By the middle to the end of May, the entire
country will have entered the rainy season
which will extend for six months to
November/December.
