Colombian Senator on Peace Tour of Europe

BOGOTA - Liberal Senator Piedad Cordoba is traveling on Tuesday to Europe to achieve a humanitarian accord between the national government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

The voyage is part of negotiations in advance by the legislator, to achieve an exchange before concluding the government of President Alvaro Uribe, the local media reported.

Cordoba expects to visit France, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden and Great Britain for two weeks, sources closed to Cordoba stated.

Political leader Carlos Lozano, member of the Movement for Peace in Colombia, said regardless of this announcement that it is time the European Union goes from words to actions to reach peace in the Andean country.

The legislator, also member of the Colombian organization, stated that she is preparing the agenda of what she called a peace tour in several European nations.

The announcement took place after insurgency released soldiers Pablo Moncayo and Josue Calvo, and the remains of police colonel Julian Guevara were delivered, due to the Colombian lawyer's procedures.
