Argentine President for
Program to Bridge Digital Gap
BUENOS AIRES - Argentina
President, Cristina Fernandez, presented
today in this capital a new project that
will provide laptop computers to three
million high school students and will bridge
the digital gap in the country.
The program "Conectar Igualdad.com.ar" will
be financed by the National Administration
of Social Security (ANSES) and will benefit
over the next three years to all students of
public technical school, he said.
She considers the netbooksâ�Ö delivery as "a
very important step to provide the equal
opportunity that everyone deserves" and she
stated that initially there will be
delivered 250.000 to mid-level students of
technical schools.
The president said she feels a new
revolution in education takes place in the
Bicentennial, and stressed the urgency of
adapting the education system to a new
world: that of connectivity.
Cristina Fernandez explained that the
laptops that students will receive have 46
programs and if they are stolen or lost, get
useless.
She explained that the program will not only
allow students to have this instrument while
studying, but those who reach the end "also
take it home, because the big challenge is
that students finish high school."
In that regard, she added that this
initiative also seeks to promote the
commitment of the entire family, as the
digital gap to be bridged is also
intergenerational.
The new program launched today is part of
the National Education Plan Digital
Argentina, aimed to recover the value of
public school and ensuring social inclusion
with the technological resources, among
other objectives. |
