Take Care From The Sun's Rays
Today
Today, Sunday 11, is one of two days a year
that the sun's rays are the strongest. Today
the rays fall at right angles over Costa
Rica, according to the Instituto
Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) - national
weather service.
Diego Naranjo of the IMN said "there is
really no difference to other sunny days,
but it does increase the intensity of the
rays."
Yesterday the Ultraviolet (UV) Index marked
a reading of 11 in the Central Valley and 14
in the rest of the country. Today the UV
index could reach a high of 20.
Recommended is using a hat, sun blocker, an
umbrella or sit in the shade. A long sleeve
shirt will protect the arms from the sun.
The weather forecast for the Central Valley
today is for winds of between 50 km/h and 60
kn/h in the lower lying areas of San José
and Alajuela, while the Central and South
Pacific will see rain and cloudy conditions
in the later afternoon.
The Caribbean and Northern Zones will see
cloudy skies and isolated showers, best is
to keep an umbrella handy.
For the Pacific North (Guanacaste), high
tides caused by the strong winds are a
concern. The IMN says that the strong winds
could also cause turbulence.
