More than 300
dogs took part
in the first "Carrera
Increíble" that
took place on
Sunday in La
Sabana park in
San José.
The event began
at 7am, as small
and large dogs
of all breeds
(and their
owners) gathered
by the León
Cortez statue to
make the 3km or
6km run around
the park to
raise funds for
the canine unit
of the Cruz Roja,
K-Sar.
Sponsored by Dog
Chow, the event
raised ¢1
million colones
to provide
support and
purchase of
equipment for
the eight dogs
that make up the
Cruz Roja's
canine unit.
First prize was
taken by a
cocker named
"Lucas".
The "Carrera
Increíble" event
also takes
places in
Venezeula,
Mexico and
Guatemala by the
Nestlé Purina
group that owns
the Dog Chow
brand.
Berny Sandí,
Nestlé Purina's,
sales manager,
said he hopes
the event will
take place in
Costa Rica every
year.
