Crisis In Limón!
Three police
officers shot
and seven
tractor trailers
burned from
molotov type
bombs, 20
detained and the
complete closure
of route 32's
entrance to the
city of Limón,
is the result of
the protests in
the province of
Limón this
morning.

The violence
occurred in
front of the
Refinadora
Costarricense de
Petróleo (RECOPE),
a few kilometres
from the Limón
docks.
Former leaders
of the Japdeva
union and Limón
municipal
workers are
among the
detained,
according to the
ministra de
Seguriad, Janina
Del Vecchio.
"I can confirm
that former
union leaders
and municipal
workers are
behind the
disturbance",
said Del Vecchio,
after receiving
a report from
the Fuerza
Pública (police)
on the scene.
Rodrigo Arias,
the ministro de
la Presidencia,
said he would be
in Limón later
today to try to
bring a solution
to the
confrontation,
that has the
entire port town
held hostage,
since there is
no access in and
out of the port
city.
