Avianca,
Grupo Taca Close Merger
Colombia’s largest airline, Avianca, has
merged with El Salvador’s Grupo Taca, The
Wall Street Journal reports. Synergy
Aerospace, which owns Avianca, Brazil’s
Ocean Air and Ecuador’s AeroGal, will get
67% of the new merged airlines.
The remaining 33% stake in the new company,
Avianca-TACA, will be owned by Taca’s
shareholders, adds FlightGlobal.
TACA’s COO, Estuardo Ortiz, will be the new
company’s COO, and Avianca’s CFO, Gerardo
Grajales, will serve as the new company’s
CFO.
TACA’s current CEO, Roberto Kriete, will be
president of the joint venture’s board of
directors.
