Colombia Destroys
18,000 Hectares Of Drug Related Crops
BOGOTA - The Colombian Army has destroyed a
total of 18,503 hectares of drug related
crops during 2010, the News Agency of the
Colombian Army reported on Wednesday.
From those 18,503 hectares, 650 hectares
were destroyed manually and 17,853 by aerial
aspersion, the report said.
During 2010 the Colombian Army also
destroyed 89 labs, two kitchens and three
crystallizers to produce drugs, and it also
seized 70,000 gallons of carburant.
The troops of different units deployed in
the country have seized two tons of cocaine
base paste, 16 tones of coca leaves, one ton
of marihuana and 750,000 seeders.
Colombia is a major cocaine producer in the
world, and also one of the main suppliers of
heroin to the United States and Europe.
