Book on Marti in
Honduras See the Light
MEXICO - Cuban historians Adys Cupull and
Froilan Gonzalez finished here the launch of
the book "Por los Caminos Reales" (Through
Royal Roads) about Jose Marti's stay in
Honduras, and the documentary "El Fiel
Cubano" (The Faithful Cuban) about
Cuban-Mexican Pedro Santacilia.
Both writers and researchers spoke about
their most recent creations at the seat of
the Cuban Embassy to Mexico at an event
presided over by Ambassador Manuel Aguilera
and the supporter of the Granma Yacht
expedition Antonio del Conde, "The Buddy".
The book about Cuba's National Hero had been
launched in a previous occasion at the Jose
Marti Cultural Center on Hidalgo Avenue of
the Mexican capital.
Before that, Cupull and Gonzalez traveled,
as part of a wide cultural program, through
the central states of Queretaro, Guanajuato,
and San Luis Potosi, where they also talked
about the result of their more recent
research through Central America from which
"Por los Caminos Reales" emerged.
In the documentary "El Fiel Cubano", both
intellectuals recreated Santacilia's
personality, a journalist, writer, poet and
historian born in Santiago de Cuba, and in
Mexico served as the personal secretary of
President Benito Juarez, the distinguished
Latin American figure.
Through the testimony of other Cuban
historians, both researchers tell of the
independence action of Santacilia at the
Cuban eastern region and his tie with
Mexico. |
