Avenida 8 Closed For Four Months For Reconstruction

Take note that beginning today, Avenida 8, between Calles 0 and 10, in downtown San José will be closed for the next four months. The road closure is to allow a total repair of the road that has deteriorate over the years.

The Cemex construction company was chosen to replace the asphalt surface with a concrete slab, which is expected to last some 40 years.

The Municipalidad de San José, which recently inherited the bad road problems of San José from the MOPT, has been using concrete instead of asphalt in rebuilding the downtown roads, like Avenida 1 that runs on the north side of Paseo Colón and Avenida 3 from the Parque Nacional to the Parque Morazan.

Avenida 8 runs one way westbound on the south side of Avenida Segunda.
