Guatemalan President
to Visit US
GUATEMALA - President of Guatemala Alvaro
Colom is traveling to the United States on
Tuesday for a three-day working visit.
Colom, who is accompanied by Foreign
Minister Haroldo Rodas, is scheduled to meet
US authorities and directors of
international groups and institutions.
The leader will hold a meeting with
Secretary General of the Organization of
American States (OAS) Jose Miguel Insulza in
Washington on Tuesday and will participate
as a guest of honor at a session of the
Permanent Council.
The President will also open on Tuesday the
Guatemalan consulate in Maryland, where he
will meet representatives of the Guatemalan
community.
On Wednesday, he will hold a meeting with
President of the Inter-American Development
Bank Luis Alberto Moreno and will exchange
opinions about the links of Guatemalan
Ministry of Finance with that institution,
among other financial issues, according to
the program.
Then, Colom will travel to New York to meet
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and "will
offer him his condolences regarding the
impact that caused the tragedy of Haiti to
the UN family."
He has scheduled for Thursday a meeting with
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with
who he will discuss issues of the bilateral
relation.
After that meeting, Colom concludes his
visit and will return to Guatemala,
according to the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs. |
