"El Menos Malo"
Political Campaign The Worst
The 2010 presidential elections are over and
while the Tibunal Supremo de Elecciones
(TSE) completes its manual count of all
votes, political parties and critics have
begun analyzing the results of the
individual campaigns and one consensus is
clear to all, the "menos malo" campaing by
the PUSC party was the worst of all.
Luis Fishman, leader of the PUSC party,
identified himself as the "el menos malo"
(the least bad).
A Unimer telephone poll by the La Nación
revealed that 37% of those polled beleived
that the campaign was a total flop, while
31% responded that the Otto Guevara campaign
was negative.
The telephone poll took in the responses of
2.471 people.
In contrast the PAC and PLN parties received
only a 9% and 8% negative vote.
Fishman, who was the last minute replacement
by the party that saw its candidate, former
president, Rafael Angel Calderon, drop out
of the race after being convicted of
embezzlement.
The PUSC party is said to have spent ¢700
million colones to woo voters and obtained
only 4% of the popular vote, finishing in
third place.
In contrast, for the the campaign run by
Ottón Solís, the PAC spent ¢650 million
colones and came in second place.
