Women Hired Killers In
Murder of American
The Fiscalía de Aguirre, Puntarenas and the
Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ)
have determined that two women conspired to
hire two youths to kill 64 year old
American, James Norris, last February in Los
Ángeles de Parrita.
Investigators made the arrest of the three
women and four men yesterday in various
raids in Parrita and San José, following the
investigation into the murder of the
American in the Bouganvillea disco on
February 27, 2009.
Francisco Segura, sub-director of the OIJ,
said they have the principal players in the
crime in custody, as well those responsible
for carrying out the crime.
The three women range in age from 48 to 25
years of age, while the the four men's age
range from 17 to 27.
Authorities theorize that the group wanted
the American killed to take control of his
properties. One of the women, identified as
Vargas, was Norris' companion, who conspired
with the other women who worked at the
disco.
The group of women are alleged to have hired
the young men to kill Norris.
The group's plans came to light when one of
the men who was asked to contract the
killers made a deal with authorities while
in prison for robbery. Prison records
indicate that two of the women in the crime
visited the contractor in jail to ask for
his help.
Norris was the target of a failed hit a
month earlier. Investigators learned that
the attempted hit occurred immediately after
the prison visit.
Segura said that detailed investigative
police work resulted in yesterday's
detentions and in identifying those
responsible. |
