Planes Linked to Drug Trafficking
CARACAS - Venezuelan National Security
Office confirmed the hypothesis that the
confiscated planes in Guarico were used for
drug trafficking.
Two of the 28 planes found last Saturday in
San Juan de los Morros, 142.9 miles from
Caracas, had drug remains, Eddy Ramirez,
Secretary of the Interior and Defense in
that region confirmed.
According to Ramirez, during investigation
process four citizens were arrested, one
Venezuelan and three Colombians. They were
charged at a control court and sent to the
local penitentiary.
Ramirez pointed out that although the
aircraft workshop where the planes were
found had an authorization by the Venezuela
National Aviation Institute (INAC) for
repairing, some of the planes found were of
illegal origin.
He said they work hard to protect that state
from the mafias which try to use that
territory as a transit area.
Venezuela is not a drug producer or consumer
country, but due to its location drug
traffickers use it as a transit area from
Colombia to the USA and Europe. |
