Venezuelans Recall
Marti's Arrival to Caracas
CARACAS - Venezuelans are recalling on
Thursday the 129th anniversary of Jose
Marti''s visit to Caracas in an event
organized by the "Casa de Nuestra America."
The program includes laying wreaths in front
of the Simon Bolivar statue located at the
square that bear his name, where "the
traveller arrived at dawn without shaking
the dust off," according to what Marti said
at The Golden Age magazine in 1889.
Representatives from the Cuban Embassy in
this country, the Foreign Trade bank, the
Ministry for Women and Gender Equality, the
Liberator municipality's Mayor's office, and
other institutions expect to lay wreaths, to
whom during his stay in this city said that
Venezuela considered him a son.
Dozens of Venezuelans started the Marti
Celebration campaign at the "Camino de los
Españoles," about 4,101 feet above sea
level, the point where the traveller stopped
to make out the city.
