Venezuela Deepens Social
Studies for Development
CARACAS - Venezuela fosters the application
of instruments to support statistics to
deepen the studies on the socio-demographic
reality of the communities as a way to
foster the public policies for these
communities.
Parallel to the production of local data in
fields like public health, education,
poverty and others, the National Statistics
Institute (INE) promotes the work of social
observatories in the communities.
This is a very useful experience since
starting from the recollected information
with the help of the settlers, it is
possible to take decisions to give solutions
to the problems in every place, said INE
general director Luis Geronimo Reyes to
Prensa Latina.
Besides the national databases, censuses
made in small spaces are useful to feature
their social environment better, a tool
enabling the search of strategies for
development.
An inventory of statistics -the third- was
presented Wednesday by INE specialists as
part of the efforts to democratize the
