Thursday and Friday Legal
Holidays And "Dry"
Tomorrow, Thursday, April 1 and Friday,
April 2, are legal holidays in Costa Rica,
days where employers must pay double pay to
employees who are required to work either or
both days.
The two days are also dry as the Ley Seca
(Dry Law) prohibits the sale of all alcohol
in the country.
Bars and restaurants have to lock up their
liquor cabinets and wine cellars and beer
coolers. Supermarkets have to clear their
shelves of all alcohol or in the alternative
close off the liquor section.
The ban starts at midnight tonight and goes
until midnight Friday.
