The List Of Legislators Against Pay Hike Is Growing

Slowly more and more legislators are finding their conscience and are coming out publicly with their vote against the proposed salary hike for legislators.

The latest to join the bandwagon of "no's" is Víctor Hugo Víquez of the Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN), who said publicly rejects the salary hike in contrast to his other 23 fellow party legislators.

Víquez said that, in addition to listening to his conscience, he is taking the advice of family and friends, as well as social groups in the province of Heredia.

"I come from a province were we have strong values and family roots", said the legislator by the press office of the Legislative Assembly and the social networking site, Facebook.

"If the increase is approved, I will donate it to social groups and if I am not obligated to accept it, the better", said Víquez.

Aside from Víquez, four legislators of the Partido Accesibilidad Sin Exclusión (PASE), Víctor Granados, Rita Chaves, Martín Monestel and Joaquín Porras, have said no.

Listening to thei conscience as well is Gloria Bejarano and Luis Fishman of the Partido Unidad Social Cristiana (PUSC).

The seven are joining the 11 Partido Acción Ciudadana (PAC) and independent legislator, José María Villalta, who has said no from the beginning.

The total number of legislators against the bill now stands at 19.
