Digital TV In
Costa Rica
Costa Rica has
decided to adopt
Japan's
technological
specifications
for its
terrestrial
digital
television
broadcasting,
government
authorities said
on Tuesday.
Costa Rica will
become the
seventh country
outside Japan to
adopt the
Japanese
specifications
after such
countries as
Brazil and Peru.
It is still
undecided when
thecountry will
begin
terrestrial
digital TV
broadcasting,
the government
said.
With the
decision, the
government will
offer
technological
assistance to
broadcast
stations in
Costa Rica, said
the
announcement.
The Costa Rican
government been
urging countries
overseas
including
Bolivia, the
Philippines and
South Africa to
adopt the
Japanese
specifications,
a move that will
help Japanese
consumer
appliance and
broadcasting
equipment makers
promote their
