Honduras, Peru Sign
Cooperation Agreements
TEGUCIGALPA - Peru signed a series of
bilateral agreements with Honduras Wednesday
during a visit by Honduran President
Porfirio Lobo in Peru.
The ceremony was also attended by Peruvian
President Alan Garcia, Peru's Foreign
Minister Jose Garcia Belaunde and his
Honduran counterpart Mario Canahuati.
The agreements concerned drug prevention and
control, anti-money laundry, and documents
and files cooperation as part of the
Spanish-American Diplomatic Files Network.
Before the ceremony, Garcia expressed his
support for the new Honduran government.
Honduran President Lobo won a general
election in November last year following a
constitutional crisis, and was sworn in as
president in January.
"No ideology or political interpretation can
separate Peru from the people on the
continent," Garcia said.
Lobo, who is to conclude his two-day visit
to Peru late on Wednesday, said the trip was
important for bilateral ties.
