Guanacaste On
"Yellow" Alert
For Heavy Rains
Five bridges
damages, 30
roads with
problems - four
highways and 26
rural routes -
and 324 people
affected is the
tally of the
severe rain that
has hit
Guanacaste in
the last couple
of days.
A low system
pressure in the
Pacific coast is
being blamed for
the storm that
began on Sunday.
According to the
Comisión
Nacional de
Emergencias (CNE)
the rain has
slowed down as
compared to
Monday, but are
maintaining an
alert for the
Guanacaste
coastal areas.
Areas affected
are Santa Cruz,
Hojancha, Nicoya
and Nandayure.
In Puntarenas,
the areas of El
Roble, Esparza,
Cobano and
Caldera are also
being affected
the constant
downpours,
although they
have been spared
of flooding.
The CNE is
keeping a yellow
alert for all
the north and
mid Pacific
coastlines, and
a green alert
for the south
Pacific.
