Costa Rica Gets
PND with RDS-TMC
Traffic
Costa Rican LBS
provider NAVSAT
has launched a
PND called
NAVIGATOR which
receives
real-time
traffic
information
through RDS-TMC.
This solution,
the first of
this kind in
Latin America,
was built in
partnership with
UK-based ITIS
Holdings, a
worldwide
supplier of
traffic and
travel
information.
NAVSAT has
implemented
their
TrafficScience
software using
floating vehicle
data combined
with incident
data from
NAVSAT’s local
traffic
monitoring
center.
The Costa Rican
routable map
data, POI
database and
TISA certified
TMC table have
also been
developed by
NAVSAT’s GIS
department.
According to the
company, NAVSAT
map data is used
by over 100,000
navigation
systems in the
consumer and car
rental market.
NAVSAT was
founded in
December 2006
and has a staff
of 30 people. |
