Over 770 Transplants Done So
Far This Year in Argentina
BUENOS AIRES - More than 770 transplants
have been carried out in Argentina during
the first five months of 2010, the Health
Ministry reported.
On occasion of, held on Sunday, the
Government detailed that so far this year
449 patients have undergone organ
transplants and 330 tissue transplants.
Of the procedures done, 275 were renal, 99
hepatic, 27 cardiac, 26 renopancreatic, 17
pulmonar, two hepatointestinal, one
intestinal and at least 330 were cornea
transplants.
Statistics of the National Coordinating
Institute of Ablation and Implant show that
during 2009 some 1,195 Argentineans received
transplants from dead donors.
The number of people who have offered to be
organ donors has increased to 12.46 per
million inhabitants.
The National Day of Organ Donation is
celebrated in Argentina since 1998 every May
30, the birthday of Dante, the first child
of a woman who received a hepatic transplant
at a public hospital. |
