Cuban Culture Exhibited at Nicaraguan University

MANAGUA - A diverse and broad sample of Cuban culture was exhibited on Friday at the campus of Central American University (UCA) as part of an annual fair, attended this time by 22 countries.

The 18th International Fair of Culture and Friendship (Fica 2010), organized by UCA, was held today, coinciding this year with the 50th anniversary of the foundation of UCA.

Cuba participates with a stand full of posters, books, pictures, compact disks and other articles representing Cuban culture, as well as videos on tourist places and on the life of the population and the work carried out by brigades of Cuban collaborators in Nicaragua.

Representatives of those brigades attended the event and explained the characteristics of the work they are carrying, mainly in the health field.

The fair was opened by Mayra Luz Perez Diaz, who is rector of UCA, founded in 1960 by the Company of Jesus as "a non profitable, autonomous educational institution of public service and Christian inspiration," becoming the first private university created in Central America.
