Costa
Rica's
Foreign
Minister,
Rene
Castro,
on his
way to
the
International
Court of
Justice
in The
Hague
made at
stop in
Washington
to meet
with
Secretary
of
State,
Hillary
Clinton,
to
express
concern
for
Costa
Rica
over the
dispute
with
Nicaragua,
and
warned
of a
millions
of
dollars
of
foreign
aid
received
by
Nicaragua.

During
the
meeting
between
Castro
and
Clinton,
Hilary
expressed
concern
over the
conflict
between
Costa
Rica and
Nicaragua.
"We are
very
concerned
and hope
that it
is
resolved
in a
peaceful
manner",
said
Hilary.
Castro
told the
press
that he
expressed
to Mrs.
Clinton
his
concern
over
Nicaragua's
receiving
some
us$1.4
billion
dollars
in
foreign
aid.
Castro
said the
concern
is that
the
money
will be
used by
the
Nicaraguan
regime
of
Daniel
Ortega,
for,
among
other
things
that
relatives
of
Ortega
acquire
media,
hotels
and
banks.
The
Foreign
Minister
told AP
on
Thursday
that
some of
that
money
came
from
Venezuela,
a close
ally of
Ortega
and is
officially
being
managed
by NGO's,
beyond
the
control
of
international
institutions.
"We want
to know
how it
is being
used,
where it
comes
from.
That
will be
crucial
for the
stability
of the
region",
Castro
said.
On
Tuesday,
March 8,
the
International
Court
will
hand
down its
decision
on the
alleged
military
invasion
of Costa
Rica by
Nicaragua
and the
"environmental
disaster"
being
caused
by
Nicaragua
by the
dredging
of the
San Juan
river.
