Calls
for
National
Unity in
Maritime
Claim
La Paz -
President
Evo
Morales
called
for the
unity of
all
Bolivians
above
ideological
differences,
to
achieve
a
sovereign
access
to the
Pacific
Ocean,
which
was
taken by
Chile in
a war of
the 19th
century.
In the
main
event on
the Day
of
Recovery
Maritime
Law at
Hernando
Siles
stadium,
in La
Paz,
Morales
said
that
there
will be
no true
peace
and
integration
in Latin
America
without
giving
Bolivia
its
rightful
access
to the
sea.
Morales
said the
Plurinational
Stateâ�Ös
strategies
in this
area are
backed
by the
State
Constitution
of 2009,
and also
have the
sympathy
of the
true
Chilean
people.
Morales
also
highlighted
the role
of
regional
organizations
such as
the
Union of
South
American
Nations
(UNASUR)
to
analyze
the
historical
demand
of
Bolivia
under
the
principles
of
brotherhood
and
complementarity.
He also
called
for
researchers
to study
the
amount
of the
economic
losses
caused
by the
loss of
the
coast
since
1879.
Chilean
musical
groups
such as
Inti
Illimani
and Los
Miserables,
Argentine
Piero
and
Bolivian
Luis
Rico
participated
in the
event.
In
Spain,
Brazil,
Argentina
and the
United
States,
where
hundreds
of
thousands
of
Bolivians
live,
they
also
backed
these
