Hundreds Infected by H1N1 virus in Panama

Panamanian Ministry of Health announced
Friday 768 infected people due to swine flu
A(H1N1), with an increase of seven regarding
the report issued last September 21st.
According to the institution, fatalities due
to that disease reached 11 after the death
of a woman with a history of diabetes was
reported in Chiriqui province.
From the total of cases, 374 are men, 394
women, 419 of them are children with less
than 15 years old and 86 have between 15 and
19 years old.
Most of the infected people are located in
the metropolitan area of the capital with
presence of the virus in Chiriqui, Colon,
Herrera, Los Santos, Veraguas, Cocle, Bocas
del Toro provinces and Ngobe bugle region.
In Darien and Kuna Yala region, an evidence
of the virus circulation has not been
possible, although the sampling of the
suspicious disease cases or of cases of
patients with flu has been intensified.
From 768 confirmed cases until now, 710
patients, who have gone back to their normal
lives, have been given epidemiological
discharge. |
