Venezuela Strengthens
Relations with Africa
Venezuelan ties with
African nations are
increasingly stronger,
expressed Reinaldo
Bolivar, vice minister
of Foreign Affairs of
the South American
nation.
We see in Africa a great
family, he told the
press during
participating in the
second meeting with
African ambassadors
meeting with the
Venezuelan government.
Bolivar pointed out that
since Africa Agenda in
2005 Venezuela has
worked to establish
diplomatic ties with all
the nations of the
continent.
He explained that
exchange is based on an
international balance
and plurality in the
fight against poverty
and protection of the
environment that
includes cooperation in
several sectors: energy,
communication,
education, science and
health.
Currently Venezuela has
more than 100 agreements
with African nations and
develops joint
commissions with
several, said the vice
chancellor.
He qualified as profound
relations with Algeria,
Libya, South Africa,
Egypt, Zambia and
Namibia and announced a
new exchange of
ambassadors with Gambia,
Mali, Sudan, Benin and
Angola.
He added that in the
past few years
Venezuelans have rescued
the cultural and
historical legacy of
Africa and pride in the
descendents of that
continent.
The deputy chancellor
mentioned the
construction of the
friendship house with
the African peoples in
Barlovento and the
opening of a faculty of
African studies in 11
Venezuelan universities.
He added that the
designation of Caracas
as host of the second
Africa-South America
Summit scheduled for
this November, is
recognition of the work
done by the Venezuelan
government to increase
relations among those
nations. |
