Bolivia for Honest Supreme Court

La Paz  - Bolivian Vice Minister of Justice, Wilfredo Chavez accused the Supreme Court of maneuvers to guarantee impunity of former president, Gonzalo Sanchez de Lozada (1993-1997, 2002-2003) indicted for corruption and genocide.

There is commitment and complicity of officials of the court who received posts granted by the former president and his successor, Carlos Mesa, he said in declarations to the state television channel.

For Chavez it is incomprehensible that almost six years after the massacre in what became known as Black October, that cost the lives of 65 and wounded 400 a trial against Sanchez de Lozada and some ministers, has not yet been held.

This is the justice of the powerful, a situation we must change backed by the new Constitution and with the help of honest judges, he added.

Authorities, survivors and families who suffered repression ordered by the former president instigate a legal process in the country although Sanchez de Lozada now resides in the United States.

Since the end of last year the Executive power has requested his extradition from Washington but no answer has been received.

This week the escape to the north of Guido Anez was revealed. He had been the minister of Agriculture during one of the mandates of the fugitive.

The vice minister of Justice declared that his escape was outrageous.

We expect rapid action by the Attorney General to begin negotiations for the extradition of Anez, Chavez said.
