Rainy Season Begins As Predicted
The rainy season arrived on Friday as predicted for the Central Valley and the Central Pacific, according to Max Mena of the nstituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) - national weather service.

The IMN says that a low pressure system over the Central Valley yesterday morning is a clear indicator of the start of the rainy season that will last through November.

Another indicator of the start of the rainy seaosn is the vendors on the streets selling umbrellas as heavy rain in most areas of the Central Valley and thunderstorms and lightning in Alajuela, north of the airport.

The Comisión Nacional de Emergencia (CNE) - national emergency commission - reported no problems.

Although temperatures remained normal, it felt colder by the grey skies. At night, fog is typical, making driving hazardous in some areas and the reason for cancelled flights at night.

The Pacific North (Guanacaste) is beginning its transition to the rainy season as it is expected to kick in the next week or two.
