September 28th, 2012 – Thursday afternoon saw strong rains with hail in various parts of the central valley, especially the areas of San Rafael de Heredia and Desamparados.
According to a meteorologist from the National Meteorology Institute (IMN), Rebecca Morera, the storms were caused by high morning temperatures, which mixed with humidity arriving from the Pacific.
No damage from the hail was reported.
The IMN also mentioned cloudiness conditions in the Northern area, which could also cause rains.
According to IMN, the central valley could see similar storms again today.
