Mexican president comes to Congress to encourage free trade agreement between Mexico, Central America

February 20th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) The president of Mexico, Enrique Pena Nieto, came before Costa Rica’s legislature upon his arrival yesterday, highlighting the close relationship between the two countries and encouraging the adoption of the Central America and Mexico Free Trade Agreement.
“From this parliamentary forum I respectfully call on the members of the Legislature to continue its path of initiatives that drive the development of our countries and the integration of the entire region. Furthermore, try to consolidate the unique Trade Agreement between Mexico and Central America, “he said.
He also gave his condolences to the country for the loss of former president of the Supreme Court, Luis Paulino Mora.
“This is my first visit as president of the State of Mexico and as such I want to stress the importance of the relationship between Costa Rica and my country, and express the respect that Mexicans feel for the sound and fruitful democratic stability that the country has built for decades,” said President Peña Nieto.
Today, Pena Nieto, President Laura Chinchilla, and other Central American leaders will address other issues of common concern, including drug trafficking and immigration.
