April 22nd, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) Time to get that umbrella out of the closet – the transition from the dry to the rainy season is underway, according to Gabriela Chinchilla of the National Institute of Meteorology (INM).
Chinchilla said the transition began last week, and the rainy season should be in full effect somewhere between May 6th and May 10th.
Chinchilla said the transition had been most noticeable in the Central Valley last week with afternoon rainfall. This week, Chinchilla said the Central and South Pacific have seen some heavy rainfall as well, which is expected to continue.
Besides remembering your umbrella, Chinchilla recommends those who live in flood-prone areas to remain alert.
