November 6th, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) The first generation of Quick Pass devices, issued in 2010, will expire in December and must be exchanged.
The devices are used for automated toll collection on the Caldera, Cartago and Guapiles toll highways.
The specific date that each unit expires can be found on the bottom of the unit, next to the device’s serial number.
The company that issues the devices, ETC, said the devices expire every five years because the devices’ batteries and components begin to deteriorate.
The cost to exchange the device varies slightly depending on your bank.
