Man dies after being shot in road rage incident in Santa Ana

May 18th, 2015 (InsideCostaRica.com) A young man who was shot in the chest in a road rage incident near the AutoMercado on the main road in Lindora, Santa Ana has died after 14 days in the hospital.

 

José Pablo Solano Solis, a resident of Ciudad Colon, was shot in the chest and thigh on May 3rd by another driver after unintentionally blocking the path of the other vehicle.

 

Solano had spent the last fourteen days in the intensive care unit of Hospital Mexico, where doctors were forced to remove one of the man’s lungs.

 

Solano will be laid to rest at 10 a.m. Monday in his hometown of Ciudad Colon.

 

The suspect, who has not been identified, was able to flee the scene after the shooting.  So far, no arrests have been made in what is now a homicide.

    At least, the vast majority of Costa Rican drivers could never be called considerate drivers.

      wow you put it nicely.I would say that there are probably other countries where assholes start honking their horns at a stoplight the NANOSECOND it changes. I have only lived in one–Costa Rica.Actually before you have the chance to take your foot off the brake and put it on the gas pedal, these assholes in Costa Rica start honking. This is something I could NEVER adjust to and it always made me scrunch up my nerves, EVERY TIME, I MEAN EVERY TIME a light changes..I the USA, at least where I have lived and that was NEVER in New York, we would expect to get an ass kicking at some point if we hit the horn so fast like the asswipes here do. That is an ass kicking offence and I believe if we Gringos would start kicking some Tico ass when they do this, it would soon stop. Ticos need their asses kicked for the way they drive, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. I am sure there are many Ticos who would absolutely LOVE it if their fellow countrymen had the courtesy to not honk so much. The trouble is , it is accepted. Well I say Let’s UN ACCEPT it !!!!!–I have heard that New Yorkers honk like the Ticos do–well that is one place I want to stay away from, along with Costa Rica. I’m sorry –I just couldn’t take the shit they put out anymore and I chose to return to USA where I live in peace and quiet and if someone honks at me like they do in CR–I simply hit the brakes and watch as the ( usually Latinos) scream and generally shorten their own lives with stress. And if they want to take it a step further, I am ready, always have been. Yes Yeims, the Ticos could never be called considerate drivers. Let’s call a spade a spade, they are asshole drivers. ( most NOT all).

        But they have a right to be asshole drivers … it’s their road don’tcha know. If an expat is on the road, they should remember their place as second class drivers.

          What exactly is a “second class driver”? If you are a driver anywhere period, especially an experienced one at that some courtesies are international period unless you are a complete idiot. Dont give us the lazy excuse of ” since its ours we can do whatever”. No driving is a privilege and serious responsibility worldwide. Sadly in Costa Rica there are a lot of idiot drivers period. Whether its operating a commercial bus, passenger van, car or semi tractor and trailer professionial driving intelligence & courtesy do not exist in Costa Rica.

And let me say that if your puny ass little grease spot on the global map ( Costa Rica) was threatened by Nicaragua or any other country you would RUN, RUN RUN to beg for protection from those same US soldiers who are brave and strong–not little mommy worshiping pussy’s Ticos. who I saw back down at the slightest scare and who fight in the street with words–everyone knows a Tico fight is yelling at each other–NEVER have I seen a Tico throw a punch. NEVER. They just write bad words on the internet. Don’t worry Ryan, it’s only a Tico threatening with words and hiding behind a keyboard. Yes the USA is the highest in military order on the planet. WE are tough and we back it up. Like that 77 year old Gringo ex marine who was on a tour bus full of old Gringo tourists outside Limon when 4 young Ticos WITH A GUN held up the bus. It took one 77 year old Gringo to disarm the punk ass Tico and break his neck and kill him while his “girlfriend” Tico buddies pulled up their skirts and ran off. The cops came, the Marine gathered up the old women who were on the tour and got back on the Ship and returned to America. So go ahead and honk. Do you all know why Ticos act bad and honk? Because they are in a car and feel brave, they wouldn’t say shit or act bad when on foot where they know even an old man Gringo will kick the asses of four 20 something Ticos, who have guns!!! Yeah research the story–it was in all the papers.

        You are of course, probably talking about the Iraq war, so let me share some facts many people don’t realize.

        I disagree and disagreed with going to war with Iraq, but it wasn’t about oil per se. There were geopolitical reasons behind the decision, rather than to “rob Iraq of its oil.”

        Here are some facts you might be interested in:

        There is only one company in charge of Iraq’s oil. It is called the Iraqi National Oil Company, and it is state-owned, just like RECOPE here.

        The Iraqi National Oil Company does, however, contract with international oil companies to drill wells, and get the oil out of the ground.

        Out of 23 oil fields in Iraq, US companies were only awarded contracts to extract oil from 2 of them – and that contract was awarded to the US companies by Iraqis, they didn’t force themselves there.

        The remaining 21 oil fields are being extracted by companies from the Netherlands, Malaysia, China, France, UK, Italy, South Korea, Russia, Turkey, Angola, and Japan.

        None of the companies, including the US ones, however, “own” the oil. They are paid a very small fee per barrel that they extract… about $2 per barrel. The oil itself is owned, controlled, and sold by the Iraqi National Oil Company.

        If the U.S. wanted/needed Iraqi oil that bad, it sure didn’t work out well. The U.S. wouldn’t have invaded Iraq for its oil, it could have simply lifted its embargo against Iraq and PURCHASED oil from them. Saddam would have GLADLY sold oil to the U.S. The U.S. has no problems buying oil from countries with which it isn’t friendly – Venezuela, for example. I think the facts make it pretty clear the motive behind the war was more motivated by geopolitics than oil.

          Thanks for your explanation !!….Now could you please explain… why the people from the first world that live here ..constantly show their disdain and hate toward this country and its people that not mater what… it has give them ( expats) a good live and profit ???…this world is run by the first world ….and it has done a terrible job doing it …..why they can not see how hypocritical all this is ???? ….

            That, I have no explanation for, but trust me when I say those types of expats actually tend to be in the minority – they’re just more vocal and make more noise.

            Timothy…where I live there are many expats and perpetual tourist….and unfortunately the majority are not different than the haters that constantly bash us on this news sites…..(I suppose must be my luck)……perhaps that majority that you refer, need to be more vocal to stop this bashing, that the only thing that does. is to create resentment toward expats from ticos that are getting tired of been push around in our own home… and trust me …that is not good for us or expats…..Help us stop the bashing….please..
