Costa Rica unionists file criminal charges against lawmaker for calling them “bums”

August 18th, 2015 (ICR News) Unionists from the National Association of Public and Private Employees (ANEP) announced Monday that they have filed criminal charges against Citizen Action Party (PAC) lawmaker Otton Solis for allegedly calling them “bums.”

 

According to an ANEP representative, the unionists have filed criminal libel and defamation charges against Solis, and are calling on the lawmaker to renounce the legal immunity granted him as a member of the Legislative Assembly.

 

Solis allegedly made the remarks during a July 24th press conference, three days before planned strikes and demonstrations by unionists were to take place.

 

ANEP Deputy Secretary General, Walter Quesada said Otton Solis has no “moral authority” to criticize public employees, since in 1976 he was dismissed as an advisor at the Institute of Municipal Development and Assistance (IFAM) for dereliction of duty.

 

Solis, for his part, said that he has no intention of renouncing his legal immunity and that the unionists are making “false” allegations.  He also denied that he was dismissed from IFAM, saying instead that he had voluntarily resigned after receiving a scholarship in England.

    These public sector Union´s better watch out they might get taught lesson on Thursday when they strike i mean the president might fire there ass. The public sector Unions hold Costa Rican´s and the goverment hostage and take and steal billion from the private sector and do nothing to help better he country. Every time the Public sector Unions strike i hear my friends in the private sector getting more pissed off about there pay and benfits so the public sector unions are bums and they are lazy and slow to do anything good for Costa Rica. If the president of Costa Rica wants to fire all the public sector he would be a hero in the country. Otton Soilis is right the PUBLIC SECTOR UNION´S are bum´s and act like the mafia in Costa Rica. Sell ICE and AYA and close MOPT and everything else. ALSO SELL THE BCR,BN AND POPULAR BANKS.

    NO MORE TAXES IN COSTA RICA JUST LAYOFF THE DAM PUBLIC SECTOR UNIONS.

    Congress and the Public sector unions are both lazy, crooked and worthless. Both should have their pay and benefits cut by at least 50%, some should be jailed for life!
