Costa Rican man survives two days trapped in crushed vehicle after plunging off 1,600-foot cliff

August 19th, 2015 (ICR News) A 47-year-old Costa Rican man is lucky to be alive today after having spent two days trapped upside down in his crushed vehicle after plunging off a 1,600 foot cliff near the El Silencio Hotel in Bajos del Toro, Grecia.

William Ramirez Delgado had been missing since Sunday morning.  It wasn’t until Tuesday afternoon that the vehicle he was driving was spotted by a bystander, who alerted authorities. Rescuers were shocked to find a still-conscious Ramirez trapped inside.

Ramirez suffered a broken collarbone and was severely dehydrated, amongst other injuries, but was conscious and oriented, according to rescuers.  Ramirez was taken to the hospital in Grecia, where he remains hospitalized.

The cause of the accident was not immediately known.
