Authorities investigating if wanted son of “El Chapo” Guzmán, world’s most wanted drug lord, is in Costa Rica

September 1^st, 2015 (ICR News) Costa Rican authorities are concerned that the son of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán, the world’s most wanted drug lord, may be in Costa Rica, based on a tweet posted to his Twitter account on Monday.

Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, 29, who is also wanted by the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), posted a tweet to the social networking site, Twitter on Monday that may have inadvertently revealed his presence in Costa Rica.  The social networking app, when used from a smartphone, pins a user’s location to each tweet, unless the feature is turned off.

The tweet included a photo of Jesús Alfredo with two other men, whose faces were covered with computer graphics.

Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigative Police (OIJ) told reporters that they are investigating the situation.

Costa Rica immigration authorities said they have no record of Jesús Alfredo having entered the country, though it is highly unlikely the man would be traveling using his real name.

It is also possible that Jesús Alfredo may have posted the tweet from the small village of Costa Rica, Culiacan, which is in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico.

Jesús Alfredo, along with two of his brothers and his father, are the leaders of Mexico’s infamous Sinaloa drug cartel, according to authorities.

Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán made an audacious escape from Mexico’s highest security prison in July.
