US man found dead in San Jose’s Hotel Del Rey

September 15th, 2015 (ICR News) An American man was found dead in a fourth-floor hotel room at the Hotel Del Rey in downtown San Jose Monday afternoon.
Eddie Matherne, 60, had apparently not emerged from his room since Saturday. Hotel staff, concerned, entered the man’s room to find the deceased lying on the bed.
Authorities are investigating the cause of death, but there were no immediate signs of foul play.
A “significant amount” of Oxycontin and diazepam were found in the room, leading authorities to suspect the man may have overdosed.
The Hotel Del Rey is one of the country’s most famous meet-up spots for prostitutes and clients.
