October 27th, 2015 (ICR News) Authorities discovered the body of a man who had been missing since Sunday after he and a female companion were swept to sea by a rip current at Playa Linda, in Savegre de Quepos.
The remains of the man, identified as 47-year-old Raymond Martinez Ruiz, a resident of Manuel Antonio, were discovered around 9:30 a.m. on Monday.
Martinez had been missing since shortly before 4pm on Sunday, when the man and a female companion, identified as 43-year-old Yamileth Araya Agüero, were swept to sea by an apparent rip current.
The body of the female victim was recovered shortly after the incident.
Some 60 to 90 people die after succumbing to rip currents in Costa Rica each year, primarily on the country’s Pacific coast.
