President of Costa Rica to make first ever State visit to Cuba since revolution

October 30th, 2015 (ICR News) Costa Rica president Luis Guillermo Solis will make the first-ever official State visit to Cuba by a sitting Costa Rican president since the end of the island nation’s 1959 revolution which brought communist leader Fidel Castro to power, Costa Rican officials confirmed on Thursday.  The State visit is scheduled for December 15 and 16, officials said.

 

The two countries reestablished diplomatic relations on March 19, 2009 during the administration of former Costa Rican president Oscar Arias (2006-2010), though no sitting Costa Rican president has ever made an official State visit to Cuba since before the Cuban Revolution.

 

Former president Laura Chinchilla (2010-2014) visited Cuba on January 28th, 2014, though the trip was not considered an official State visit as it was under the auspices of the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

 

President Solis along with a Costa Rican delegation will meet with his counterpart Raul Castro though the subjects to be discussed remain to be determined, Costa Rica’s deputy foreign minister, Eduardo Trejos told CRHoy.com.

    Subjects to be discussed? Like where can I buy some Cuban cigars, rum and a nice Guayabera shirt? Maybe by the time he leaves office he will have visited every country on the plantet.

      My guess is that Solis is a mouthpiece (intermediary) for the Obama administration in regards to ongoing discussions. Remember, both Obama and Solis are educators by trade. They have a solid relationship.

    What is screwy Louie doing in Cuba or any other country, Has he or Congress ever heard of Cost cutting. I know Donna Chiwawa do not understand the process. This maybe the leading cause of the Country going broke?????
